Hey there!
I’m Buddy, your financial buddy from now on! Buddy is a fictional character I created to accompany all of us on our financial journey as we strive to improve our money management skills every day! In reality, I’m 27 years old, barely a millennial, and almost a Gen Z.
The "Why" Behind Buddy
I started this website because I want to help adults in their 20s, including me, who are learning about money management, investing in stocks or alternatives, choosing a credit card during or after college, getting cashbacks or discounts, and navigating financial situations without sacrificing our happiness.
While growing up, I witnessed family members and friends struggling financially due to a lack of money management skills or financial literacy. I always wanted to help, but I didn’t know how until now – by starting a personal finance website where I can share the different things I’ve learned about personal finance from my parents, my experiences with new investments, or the credit cards I owe or recommend. I want to create a project centered around learning something I’m passionate about or discovering something new, and sharing it with people my age along the way.
Of course, part of learning about financial literacy and achieving your financial goals is not losing sight of what’s most important – your happiness and your relationships. As I share various aspects of personal finance in this blog, I also want to include a focus on mental health, encouraging mindfulness not only in your financial well-being but also in your mental well-being. Think of the website as a personal finance platform with a sprinkle of mental health and self-discovery.

About Me
I was born in a developing country and grew up in a lower-middle-class family. Fortunately, I received a scholarship and moved to the United States to pursue my higher education. Throughout my upbringing, both my parents have always been thrifty, smart, and careful with money. By leading by example, they instilled practical financial knowledge in me and inspired me to live below my means and learn more about financial literacy. (I still remember convincing my mom to let me take the public bus back home instead of the afternoon school bus, so I could save some extra money and have the freedom to wander around after school.)
My Promise
With everything I write on this website, I want it to be based on something real, whether it’s a personal experience, a real-life situation, or a real person, to make it personal and relatable.
